Healthy Bread Recipe: Enjoy Guilt-Free Bread with Dr. Steven Gundry’s Recipe from The Plant Paradox

Dr. Steven Gundry, a cardiologist, has shared a recipe for a healthy bread that can be consumed without guilt. The recipe is published in his book, The Plant Paradox, and the bread is made without cereals, gluten, wheat, or yeast.

According to Dr. Gundry, the bread is “almost bread” and contains no lectins, which are toxic, plant-based proteins found in wheat and many gluten-free products.

A slice of this bread contains only 90 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein, compared to 128 calories, 3 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein in a slice of whole-wheat bread. The main ingredients include coconut oil, coconut flour, egg whites, sweet potato flour, hazelnut flour, almonds, and a few others.

To prepare this delightful bread in the comfort of your home, follow these steps:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups almond flour
  • 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon whole flaxseed
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 4 eggs

Instructions:

  1. Begin by combining the dry ingredients in a bowl, incorporating the flaxseeds.
  2. Melt the butter over medium heat, allow it to cool for 5 minutes, and then add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture. Thoroughly mix with a spatula until a dough-like consistency is achieved.
  3. Transfer the mixture onto a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with flaxseed and bake at 175 degrees for 25 minutes. Verify its readiness by inserting a toothpick.
  4. Let the bread cool and wrap it in a towel for freshness. For prolonged freshness, consider storing it in a Ziplock bag.
  5. Slice this extraordinary bread and savor the goodness!
